Claire is an experienced Drama teacher (having taught in schools for over a decade). She believes in the transformative power of Drama to enable children to grow in confidence and belief in themselves. Drama is about the study of character, motivation and behaviour; it teaches children how to interpret others and present themselves to the world! These are the reasons she wanted to become a Drama teacher!
During her degree in Theatre, Film and Television Studies, she was the stage manager for numerous successful productions. Since qualifying as a teacher from the prestigious English and Drama PGCE at Exeter University, she has directed numerous whole school productions (everything from Shakespeare to Musicals). She has been the lead teacher for the practical components of both A Level and GCSE Drama courses. Claire has tutored individuals towards auditions for national competitions, Universities and Theatre Schools. She has worked hard to continue to develop her knowledge of Drama by attending workshops with LAMDA and becoming a moderator for the Edexcel exam board. She has a breadth of knowledge of practitioners and styles, from Stanislavski; Commedia dell'arte; Brecht and Absurdism.
Outside of work, Claire is a trained mezzo-soprano. She has sung with numerous choirs, most notably Gloucester Cathedral Choir. She has performed with many different function bands since studying music for her A Levels (a million years ago!). She is currently a solo wedding singer.
She is extremely excited to be working with the amazingly talented staff and students at My Stage School!
