Ellie Marsden

Principal

Ellie grew up in Minchinhampton before moving to Cheltenham, where she spent all of her days immersed in the performing arts. From a young age, Ellie trained at Janet Marshall Dance Studios, competed at the ISTD Awards, Janet Cram Awards and the All England Dance Finals, and at just nine years old, she landed her first professional role as Brigitta in The Sound of Music at the Everyman Theatre.

After completing her A-levels, Ellie went on to study Theatre Dance at the prestigious London Studio Centre, before continuing her training in Performing Arts at Middlesex University. Upon graduating, she successfully auditioned for the girl band TULA and toured the UK, later joining the 80s band Modern Romance. Alongside performing, Ellie began teaching—and quickly realised it was her true passion. Working with children felt completely natural to her, and she loved helping them shine both on and off stage.

At just 23, Ellie bought two Stagecoach theatre arts franchise schools in London, which grew from 150 to 360 students within three years, becoming one of the largest branches worldwide at the time. Drawing on her industry experience and connections, Ellie has since trained and guided hundreds of young performers to West End, TV and film auditions. Her students have gone on to secure incredible roles, including every child part in The Sound of Music, Dodger in Oliver, Bruce and Lavender in Matilda, Debbie and Small Boy in Billy Elliot, Cosette in Les Misérables, Young Fiona in Shrek, Jemima in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Augustus Gloop and Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Young Nala in The Lion King, and roles in Miss Saigon and Carousel.

Ellie is hugely proud of what she and her team are building at My Stage School, which now welcomes over 400 students across Cheltenham and Gloucester every week. Watching young performers grow in skill, confidence and creativity is the most rewarding part of her job. At My Stage School, Ellie encourages students to dream big, work hard, and strive for excellence together—while always making sure they have plenty of fun along the way.
